We are extremely excited and honoured to introduce our dynamic Student Council for 2020. This year, the council are going to be working on two exciting projects - the redesign of the Reading Room and the expansion of our charitable and social activities.
We are pleased to announce our first student-run event, our Halloween event “Trick or Treat”! On the lunchtime of the 21st October, the Student Council students will be working with the members of the Metaphysics and Folklore Society to present an extravaganza of spooky literature. Students will be welcome to read out their own literary offerings or just to listen. Costumes are welcome (but not compulsory), and snacks will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of snacks will go to the charity Hestia, which supports those who suffer from domestic abuse.
We believe that social events are a great way to increase connectivity among the student body and bring us closer together, whether it be through bake sales or sports days. An added bonus is that we can also raise awareness, and funds, for different charities.
The main goal of the social events subcommittee is to bring unity and school spirit among the student body and we hope to achieve this through activities such as a cultural month, movie nights, and the aforementioned bake sales and sports days. Furthermore, these events act as a way to raise awareness for charities such as Hestia, a charity that works with domestic abuse victims and more, in Ealing.
With all this in mind, the committee is very excited for this academic year as it will be one that fosters school spirit.
