First Aid Society Teaches EIC Students New Skills

16 Oct 2018

Last week in the first aid society we were looking at allergies, anaphylaxis and auto-injectors. This included the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and how to manage someone who is having an allergic reaction or someone who is having anaphylaxis. Here, Aren is demonstrating using an EpiPen - one of the three types of common auto-injectors used to treat someone with severe allergies.

First Aid is an important life skill. In the UK, where only 1 in 10 people are first aid trained, survival rates for cardiac arrests are less than 1 in 10. In countries like Norway where school children are trained in CPR, the survival rates are 1 in 4. We are also taking part in World Restart A Heart Day today (16th October) - students will have an opportunity to take part in CPR sessions during the day.

The first aid society meets every Wednesday at 3.30pm
