Meet the Team: Ms Nemone Sariman

My name is Nemone and I am Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Ealing Independent College. I studied French at Durham University and, although I enjoyed the literature aspect, by far the most useful aspect of my course was spending a year in France. The best way of learning a language is to go to the country and live with the locals. The second-best way is to come to my classroom!

My favourite aspect of the College is being able to personalise our offering to the students’ wants and needs. So you want a French trip to a bakery to make Galette des Rois and croissants? And you want a Spooky Club in which we chat about ghosts, vampires and UFOs? Done! (Yes, we have done both of these things, although not at the same time …)

My favourite experiences so far at College have been numerous, but one in particular that stands out is the Hallowe’en spooky storytelling event (I dressed up as Storm from X Men). The French Galette des Rois experience is something that has become a tradition, with pastries being shared and one student being crowned king or queen for the day. I hope that this will remain a part of MFL at Ealing Independent College forever!
