Examination preparation for external A Level candidates

Many students find mock examinations to be an invaluable part of their preparation. They provide the chance to practise under real exam conditions, manage strict timings, and gain a clearer picture of current performance levels. This experience highlights areas for improvement and allows you to refine your examination technique, ensuring you can showcase your knowledge effectively when it matters most. At A-level, mastering timing and developing the right approach to the specific demands of each paper are crucial steps towards success.

1. December Mock Examinations

  • You will sit one mock paper for your course at our centre in December (the number of papers varies by course). This will be conducted under JCQ examination conditions. In 2025, the series takes place during the weeks commencing 8th and 15th December.
  • Papers will be marked and returned with a copy of the mark scheme, if available.
  • Predicted grade: Based on your performance, you can elect to receive a predicted grade for use in your UCAS application. This will be supplied before the Christmas break and in good time for the final UCAS deadline.

Regretfully, we cannot accommodate pupils who require a separate room, a scribe or a reader

2. Easter Mock Examinations

  • You will sit one mock paper for your course at our centre before the Easter break (the number of papers varies by course). This will be conducted under JCQ examination conditions. In 2026, the series takes place during the weeks commencing 16th and 23rd March.
  • Papers will be marked and returned with a copy of the mark scheme, if available.
  • There is no UCAS predicted grade supplied with this option.

Regretfully, we cannot accommodate pupils who require a separate room, a scribe or a reader

3. December and Easter Mock Examinations

  • You will sit all mock papers for your course at our centre during both mock sessions (the number of papers varies by course). These will be conducted under JCQ examination conditions. This option gives you the best chance to measure improvement and fully develop your examination technique.
