Mr Patrick Rood

Teacher of Business Studies and Economics

Patrick Rood is a teacher of Economics and Business at the college, as well as a Form Tutor for year 12 students.

Patrick studied a Masters in Economics and Tax Law at Tilburg University in the Netherlands (including a minor in Philosophy). After finishing his studies, Patrick worked as an international tax advisor in Amsterdam. In this role Patrick worked with many large multinationals. He still benefits from this experience as it provides him with practical examples of the workings and goals of multinational companies in his lessons.

After a few years in the world of tax consulting, Patrick decided to change his career. Patrick’s teaching career started with a Master’s degree in Teaching Economics at Leiden University. At the same time he started teaching in Leiden, NL at a secondary school (Dutch equivalent A level and GCSE). Other than teaching Economics and Business across all ages, Patrick was actively involved in international trips, business challenges and a project on peer marking software at his previous school.

At Ealing Independent College, Patrick currently supervises the student-led Economics and Business club, where students discuss recent and relevant issues within the field.
