UCL Visit to Ealing Independent College

13 Nov 2015

Yesterday, Thursday 12 November, Dr Sarah Hutton of UCL visited Ealing Independent College to speak about the Sciences at UCL and what it could offer our students.

Dr Hutton is Outreach Co-ordinator and Ogden Science Officer working for the Physics and Astronomy Department at University College London. She is also developing new outreach activities based at the University of London Observatory (ULO), which is situated in Mill Hill in North London.

Dr Hutton spoke to EIC students and parents about the ground-breaking research at the University and captured their imaginations by showing some of the breakthroughs at CERN and within Medical Physics.

She also gave our students an insight into what UCL look for in their undergraduate students with a few top tips about personal statements and what they are looking for beyond just academic grades.

Dr Ian Moores, Principal at Ealing Independent College commented “It was great to have a representative from one of the UK’s top Universities at Ealing. We have many students who want to progress onto this type of leading institution when they complete their A Levels. Hopefully the extra insight gained will help them with their UCAS applications. It was a great opportunity for our students and parents, so I am pleased that they took advantage and asked some interesting questions. “

This is a first in a series of University talks we will be hosting at EIC, Dr Steven Le Comber of Queen Mary University visited on Tuesday 17 November. You can find out more about that by clicking here.
