EIC students visit the Houses of Parliament

09 May 2017

Today A-Level Government and Politics students once again had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament to enjoy a guided tour that took in the Chambers of the House of Commons and House of Lords. With a snap General Election on 8th June, the students had the opportunity to consider who will be filling the green benches of the House of Commons in the future, including in the college's constituency of Ealing Central and Acton where the current MP Rupa Huq has previously met students of the college.

On his return, an A-level student Abdulaziz commented:

"It was great for us to visit the Palace of Westminster. The aim of the visit was to enrich our understanding of the roles and responsibilities of our representatives in parliament, as well as giving an insight of how life works there. We had an informative tour about the history of this great place, which is undoubtedly one of the most iconic places on this planet. The highlight of the tour was getting the chance to enter the two main Chambers in both the House of Commons and House of Lords. I would be personally in favour of these kinds of visits because they do fulfil our understanding of the many topics we study in Government and Politics. It was like another Politics lesson, but this time, it was not in the classroom, but rather, inside the iconic place itself!"
