Geography Field Trip (AS level)

All good geographers go on fieldtrips and those at Ealing Independent College are no exception. On 1st March, AS geography students will travel to Epping Forest to put their geographical knowledge into practice.

Donning their wellies, the class will visit the Field Studies Centre on the north-east perimeter of London to research a river first-hand. The intensive day involves collecting primary data using specialist equipment (yes, they will be getting their hands wet!).

Using the base knowledge they have build up over the year so far, students will set a scientific hypothesis to be tested. This means making sense of a real river, which is likely to throw up a few difficulties not detailed in the text books!

Returning to the field centre's classroom , students will analyse the data that they have collected and will ask how the characteristics of a river changes as it gets travels downstream.

Once back in Ealing, students will produce a full project report detailing their full findings.
