Celebration of the International Women’s Day

10 Mar 2017

In celebration of the International Women's Day last Wednesday, we asked our students at Ealing Independent College who is their female role model and why. Here is what they said:

"The woman that I think I look up to the most would be my older sister. She is an incredible human being who never stops working hard and does everything to the best of her ability no matter what. She is like another mother to me. She is someone that I know will tell me if I have done something wrong, but she will also be someone with whom I can share my happiness with. She is my role model and if I am to ever grow up and be like her, I will be a happy adult". Maneet, Year 13 Intensive.

And more...

"When I was asked about my female role model so many names popped up in my head. I thought to myself that it was one of the hardest questions I've ever been asked. It was hard to decide because all of my role models mean different things to me. In the end, I have decided that my current role model is Ruqsana Begum, the world's Muay Thai Kickboxing champion, and here is why: She once said, "as a woman in a sports world, I believe that it’s not how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get yourself back up." I feel that this doesn't only apply to sports. Women are still nowadays seen in the categories of being sensitive and weak and that is not true. It's sad to see that not always we receive equal rights, whether it's at work or in general. Therefore, for the International Women's Day I am proud to say that We Are Strong." Serafina, Year 12

The theme of this year's International Women's Day was "Be bold for change". Therefore, we have also asked the students how Ealing Independent College has transformed them. Here is what Rehab, our A-level student told us:

"Ealing Independent College has impelled my passion that comes from my fascination with the mechanics of the cellular world and Mathematics. Teachers have certainly helped me to push my learning beyond just the standard A-level syllabus". Rehab, Year 12

We, at Ealing Independent College, hope that all the ladies around the world had a chance to celebrate their day!
