Extra-curricular
In addition to their academic studies, students are encouraged to take an active part in the life of the College. There is a Students’ Council which meets when necessary with the Principal to discuss wider College issues.
There are representatives from each year group on the Council.
Organised events outside of the College are discussed and planned at this forum. In the past these have included visits to art galleries, concerts and the theatre.
We offer a range of sporting activities including football and basketball. As part of the year 10 and 11 GCSE programme all students take part in some form of sport or physical exercise each.
Football
The College has a football team which practices weekly at the local sports club. Regular matches are organised with other Colleges.
French Trips (Normandy 2011)
EIC study visit to Normandy:
Again this autumn, during the October half-term, a group of students took part in a week’s study visit in Le Clos de l’Ancien Pressoir, or the “Old Cider Press Centre”. Immediately, the students demonstrated plenty of energy and enthusiasm and were quick to embrace the beauty of the local area. There were many opportunities to sample the local history, the language and its culture, also the high street shopping in Bayeux, Port-en-Bessin and Caen. The students were keen to acquire some French to use during the visits. Being exposed to local food was part of the programme, and the popular cheese tasting workshop generated a lot of interesting new language.
Un grand merci to the Centre’s staff: Bob for the informative visits and driving, Stella for the language sessions and Kim for the delicious food. Many thanks for another great French experience! See you next year.
