International Students

Ealing Independent College is accredited by the BAC (British Accreditation Council). You can read their leaflet for international students by clicking A5_Flyer_International_Students_0809.pdf. We have also been awarded the 'Highly Trusted Sponsor' status by the Home Office.

The College has been recruiting students from overseas for several years. However, it is a College policy that the number of overseas students should not exceed 20% of the total number of students. This is to ensure that as much as possible, all overseas students speak English at all times and integrate as fully as possible into college life.

Many colleges of this type recruit large numbers of overseas students, and consequently students of a particular nationality tend to mix together, talk in their own language and do not fully integrate into the life of the College. At Ealing, we believe that it is important that all overseas students fully integrate into the life of the College.

The College has students on roll from: China; Vietnam; Singapore; Pakistan; India; Bangladesh; Yemen; Oman; Iran; Kenya; Nigeria; Algeria; Switzerland; Greece; Norway; Brazil.

Some of our international students are recruited by our agents who work for the College throughout the world; others apply directly through the College Website. In either case, qualifications achieved so far by any prospective student would be looked at alongside their chosen course, together with the level of English reached. All overseas students are encouraged to submit the online application form in the first instance either through our agent or as an independent applicant. Students who apply independently (without the help of one of our overseas agents) might be asked to submit further evidence of their qualifications, probably in the form of a reference from a former school or college. On consideration of all the facts a provisional place would be offered or refused. Where a provisional place is offered, the student would then be required to pay the relevant monies in order that the enrolment can be confirmed. The requirements are different dependent on whether a Student Visa is required or not.

For non-Visa enrolments:

In some cases a Student Visa is not required to study in the UK in which case just £300 should be deposited into the College’s bank account* to cover the enrolment fee (£130) and book deposit (£170). EU Nationals and of course those students who carry a UK Passport do not require a Student Visa. On receipt of £300 the terms and conditions laid down in the Application Form become valid and the College will issue a Letter of Enrolment to confirm the place.

For Visa enrolments:

When a Student Visa is required the student is required to pay the overseas deposit (£1500) plus the enrolment fee (£130) and book deposit (£170) – a total of £1800. The money should be deposited into the College’s bank account* (details below). Once £1800 is received, the College will then issue a Letter of Enrolment which has to be submitted to the relevant authorities if a Student Visa is required.

In the event of a Visa being refused the overseas deposit and the book deposit will be refunded – a total of £1670. Students who fail to obtain a Visa will be required to submit relevant documentation to the College to explain why the Visa has been refused before any refund can be made.

The College has an EFL Department (English as a foreign language). Overseas students will be interviewed by the EFL department in the first week of term to assess the level of additional English that is required. Costs for this will of course depend on the nature of the classes and tuition that are arranged.
